What are Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries?
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries use a new type of cathode material that offers several advantages. LiFePO4 batteries offer much higher specific capacity, superior thermal and chemical stability, improved safety, improved cost performance, improved charge and discharge rates, compact size, light weight and improved cycle life. Typical LFP batteries have an average life of 5 to 10 years and can be expected to provide reliable and consistent performance throughout their life.
Are LiFePO4 batteries safe?
Yes, they are. LiFePO4 is a safe chemistry and the most stable lithium type battery on the market. Our lithium cells are UL certified, which means they have been tested:
Overcharge
Over Discharge
External Short-circuit
Thermal Abuse
Drop Test
Heavy Impact
Extrusion Test
Prick test
Why LI-ION batteries instead of sealed lead-acid batteries?
- Long cycle life: Lithium-ion batteries have a cycle life of 3000 or more compared to 500-1000 cycles for lead-acid batteries. Lithium-ion batteries typically last many times the number of cycles of lead-acid batteries, resulting in a longer effective life for lithium-ion products.
- High temperature performance: We select special electrolyte and high temperature materials. Our products have excellent high temperature performance.
- Fast charging: Higher efficiency batteries charge faster, improved efficiency means a higher effective battery capacity. Lithium batteries takes 2-3 hours to charge while lead-acid needs 8 hours.
- Compact and lightweight: The same model LFP battery is approximately 2/3 the volume and 1/3 the weight of a SLA battery.
- Eco-Friendly: LiFePO4 batteries contain non-toxic materials, making them safer for the environment. Lithium batteries emits no gas so it is a much cleaner technology and is safer for the environment than lead-acid batteries.
How do I maintain the LiFePO4 batteries?
To keep the cells well equalized and balanced, and to ensure battery performance, be sure to charge the battery every 8 to 10 weeks. In order to prevent the safety problem caused by the failure of the protection board overcharge protection function, do not charge for a long time. After the battery is fully charged, remove it. In addition, use the original charger or the one attached to the battery and operate it according to the product manual/ specification. Otherwise, the battery may be damaged or cause danger.
How to store LiFePO4 batteries?
Storage temperature 0℃~40℃(Optimum storage temperature 15℃~25℃, dry preservation). Battery performance is affected by temperature, the most obvious is the change in battery capacity, this is normal phenomenon. Avoid condensation caused by temperature changes during storage, otherwise it will lead to the rust of batteries or metal parts.
Can I use lithium-ion batteries in cold weather?
We suggest that battery discharge ambient temperature should be -20 ℃ ~ + 60 ℃ (When the ambient temperature >45 ℃, please pay attention to the ventilation and heat dissipation), charging temperature is 0 ℃ ~ + 45 ℃. Ambient humidity RH is ≦ 85%. Pay attention to waterproof when ambient humidity is > 85%, at the same time the battery surface condensation phenomenon should be avoided.
Can we customize battery packs with our own brand?
Yes, we provide OEM & ODM service of battery packs. Any needs, please feel free to contact us.
How are custom lithium battery packs designed for extreme operating conditions?
Custom lithium battery packs are designed with selected battery cells, a customized BMS, effective thermal management, and durable housing to ensure reliable performance in harsh environments. Depending on the application, they can be optimized for high- or low-temperature operation, as well as high-vibration and high-humidity environments. These battery packs are widely used in industrial equipment, lighting equipment, outdoor equipment, and IoT applications.
How do I calculate battery pack capacity?
Battery pack capacity = Cell capacity × Number of cells in parallel
Example:
26650 4500mAh
4S2P = 12.8V 9Ah
4S4P = 12.8V 18Ah
Can cells be connected in series and parallel?
Yes. Our LiFePO4 cells can be assembled into custom battery packs with various series and parallel configurations according to application requirements.
What certifications are available for export?
Common certifications for international markets include:
UN38.3 (transport safety for lithium batteries)
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet)
CE (EU compliance)
IEC 62133 (battery safety standard, depending on project requirements)
Additional certifications can be supported upon customer request for specific markets or applications.
How to choose between LFP and NCM batteries?
LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) and NCM (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) are the two main types of lithium-ion batteries. LFP prioritizes safety, longevity, and affordability, while NCM delivers higher energy density, lighter weight, better low-temperature performance.
Do you provide samples for testing before mass production?
Yes, we support providing customized samples for customer performance testing, project verification and certification evaluation. Samples can be customized according to voltage, capacity, size, connector and BMS requirements, using the same materials and standards as mass production to ensure consistency and reliability.
What is your MOQ for custom battery packs?
MOQs vary depending on the complexity of the pack design and PCM requirements. Please contact our sales team with your specifications for a detailed quotation and lead time.
